Wend: the daily word path puzzle

Wend is a free daily word game. Four hidden words snake through a 5×5 grid of letters, bending around dark walls, and together they fill every letter tile exactly once. Find all four and the board is done.

Everyone gets the same board each day, so you can compare times with friends. Want more? Wend Unlimited gives you a fresh board whenever you like.

How to play

Trace four hidden words through a 5×5 grid of letters. Words snake around the dark walls, and together they use every letter tile exactly once.

Tracing RIVER: paths move up, down, left or right and bend around the dark walls.
Solved: SUN, LEAF, RIVER, GARDEN cover every letter tile exactly once.

The rules

  1. 1 Find the four hidden words. They are 3, 4, 5 and 6 letters long, and the slots under the board show each length.
  2. 2 Connect letters that touch up, down, left or right. Diagonals don’t count.
  3. 3 Words can bend as often as they like, but they can’t cross the dark walls.
  4. 4 Every letter tile belongs to exactly one word. When all four are found, the board is full.

Tracing a word

Drag across the tiles and let go, or tap them one at a time and tap the last letter again to check. A correct word locks in with its own colour. Tap any letter already in your path to shorten it, or press Escape to start over.

Hints and undo

Hint reveals the next letter of an unsolved word in its slot and outlines that tile on the board with a dashed border. Undo removes the last letter you traced, or un-finds the last word if your path is empty. Both are unlimited, and your hint count appears in your result.

Tips

  • Start in the corners and next to walls. Tiles with only one or two open neighbours have very few ways to fit into a word.
  • Look for the 3-letter word last. Once the long words are placed, it is usually the only thing left.
  • If a word is right but rejected, it is on the wrong path. Try the same letters by another route.
  • Common pairs like TH, ER, CH and ST often sit next to each other along a word’s path.

About the game

To wend is to travel by a winding route, and that is exactly how the words move here. Each board is a small word search and a tiling puzzle at once: spotting a word is half the job, and fitting all four together so nothing is left over is the other half.

Wend.gg gives you a fresh daily board, the same for every player, plus an unlimited mode for practice. It works in English, French and German, each with its own word list. No account is needed, and your progress is saved on this device.

Daily board One puzzle a day, the same for everyone. New board at midnight your time.
Unlimited No waiting. A new randomly generated board whenever you want one.

No. Each letter must touch the previous one up, down, left or right. Words can turn corners as often as they need to, but they cannot pass through the dark walls.

Only the four hidden words count, and each has to follow its own path. If you spell a hidden word along a different route, we let you know so you can try another way around.

Each hint reveals the next letter of an unsolved word and outlines its tile on the board. Hints are unlimited, but they are counted in your result.
